LeonaLeona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British singer, songwriter also known as actress, and activist. Born and raised in the London Borough of Islington, she was a student at in the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Lewis was a star on the national stage in the X-Factor's third season in 2006. She also received the PS1 million recording contract with Syco Music. Her winning song, a cover song by Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" was a top-charting first place for four weeks on the UK Singles Chart and broke a world record by reaching 50,000 digital downloads within 30 minutes. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a 5 album deal in February 2007. Lewis maintained her popularity with Spirit which was her debut studio album. It was 10x platinum recognized in the UK. This album became the fourth-most popular album of the 2000, and was also one of the most popular UK albums. Spirit was, according to Official Charts Company is the greatest-selling debut album by a female artist. The lead single, "Bleeding Love", was a seven-week standout at number first in UK and was the most-sold single of 2007. The track was also among the top-selling of 2008, and Lewis won her Billboard Award for Best New Artist. She debuted Echo in 2009 , and made "I See You" The film's theme song. Lewis' single "Collide" came out as co-written by Swedish DJ Avicii and she also released Hurt: the EP, her first extended play. Glassheart (2012) is her 3rd studio release. The album was inspired by dubstep and electronic music. Her Glassheart Tour was in the middle of 2013, when she began to record material to make her first Christmas album. Following that, Christmas with Love featuring the single that was released as the album's lead track "One more sleep" it reached the top three spot on the charts in the UK. Lewis, a British solo female artist was the first female artist to reach the Top Five with eight songs. This is more than Olivia Newton John's seven-year record.
